Jo Peters: Newcastle Jets can do it.
"Go the Jets," says Matildas star Jo Peters. "We'll be in the Grand Final for sure."
Speaking from the Matildas training camp in Canberra Peters is looking forward to another year with Matildas.
"I'm one of the more experienced players, taking a year at a time. I'd love to go to another World Cup but for now I'm just thinking about this year.
"The World Cup was great but frustrating. I wanted to go into it really fit, but got injured just before the tournament which meant I had to manage it all through the tournament. That was difficult."
Matildas head to Brisbane for three games against New Zealand in March, 1,3 and 5th
Any chance you can chat to some of the younger members of the squad, tristram, carroll, chapman and the like. It would be interesting to hear where they are from and where they are going.

ReplyDeleteFirst I've heard of it. Thanks! Do you know any other details?
Fair point, I had a chat with Kim Carroll yesterday and have interviewed her for the Nearpost radio show in the coming weeks.
ReplyDeleteThought her thoughts on a place in the squad and what she needs to work on were superb. Very honest on the frustrations of training with the Matildas and missing out.
Interviewed Lisa De Vanna, Caitlin Munoz, Emily Wirkus, Kate Gill, probably not the ones you want, but they will also be on coming shows.
Apart from Caitlin, Canberra connection, I haven't interviewed any of the others before...but I'm slowly working thru the squad.
so that's the best I can do..one man band and all that!
No, what do you want to know Hamish kick-off, stadium and hotel they are staying in:)
ReplyDeleteLydia Williams and Chapman are locals aren't they? Maybe they can do a gig on the show!
ReplyDeleteI took my kids to see them play this morning. It was great. I would also like to hear more from the locals.Saw them but don't know them.
ReplyDeleteI reckon chapman is really quick, never seen her play before. Do we know anything about her? Do the locals play in a comp in Canberra?
Sorry can't do that Id thingo. Kevin P.

ReplyDeleteAm trying to give a bit of coverage to the women's game...don't know anywhere else where you can a weekly women's football segment on radio in Australia...could be wrong...
Amy Chapman is from Albury (I think) and came to Canberra as part of the Matildas/AIS programme. She also has a sister on the programme or did Georgia I think.
anyway hope to have her in the studio soon.
cheers
Eamonn
What do we know about the Bisbane games. Do you know who is going. Any of our girls?
ReplyDeleteI know little about Brisbane games, but given there are three I would imagine Lydia Williams, Caitlin Munoz are definites and possibly Amy Chapman will go.
ReplyDeleteBut I have no idea!
Sally Shipard now lives in Brisbane so is she one of us...yeah we'll keep her:) even if she is from Wagga..
I'll put the squad out when it is released. Sometimes the FFA are very secretive about this stuff, not on purpose, it's as though they don't think anyone would be interested, still we'll get it eventually.
