Best young players in Canberra this week

AUSTRALIA’S NEXT GENERATION OF STARS COMPETE IN CANBERRA

Australia’s finest young talent will compete in Canberra over the next six days with eight State Institute squads competing in the ACT Academy of Sport Institute Challenge under the watchful eye of Qantas Joeys coach Martyn Crook and assistant coach Jean-Paul de Marigny.

The Academy squads primarily consist of players born in 1990 and 1991 with the later players eligible for the Qantas Joeys who will commence their long road towards the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup next month when the squad competes in the Toyota International Youth Tournament in Japan.

The Qantas Joeys will commence their qualifying campaign for the FIFA U-17 World Cup in October where six nations will compete for two available berths at next year’s AFC U-16 Championship.

Well you'd have to be pretty confident that baring the odd player already overseas or injured and (possibly the odd late developerthese would have to be the best.

You might have disputes over a player left out, football is always about opinions.

So unless you can suggest otherwise I reckon these are the best current players in this age group in the country.

Convince me I'm wrong:)

Are you up to date with the results from this tournament? If you could keep us all informed that would be really appreciated, thanks!

Also do you know anything more about the AFC U-16's championship and about selections for that. will the team be selected from this years U-15's at Nationals or something along those lines?

Thanks for you time, and info.

I'll see if I can get the results.

Presumably the Under 16's would come from this years nationals and indeed this weeks games in Canberra.

But I have no idea, only guessing. I'll try and found out.
