Scott McDonald: Yes he played for Celtic

Celtic lost 1-0 to Rangers. Okay it hurt, but all is not yet lost, believe me.

Where's there's Celtic there's hope!

But Scott McDonald, the so-called injured Socceroo, came off the bench to play for Celtic on Saturday.

Two points:
1. Australia had two chances inside the six yard box against China. Marco Bresciano and David Carney missed. McDonald would have scored. If Australia miss out by a point or two, we should never allow Celtic manager Gordon Strachan into the country.

2. Scott McDonald scores many goals for Celtic. Not unlike Henrik Larsson and Mark Viduka when they played for Celtic. But McDonald, unlike Larsson and Viduka, seems to be on the bench for the big games, particularly the away games. Rangers away, Barca away.

why do you think he sits on the bench for the big games?

i saw some strachan quotes saying he took his benching like an adult. or something like that. and that he had a dryish spell recently. but i dunno if thats trustworthy.

Because he's a useful forward at home to nick a goal if Celtic are pushing forward,

but his work away from goal is not of the required energy or standard to run the show on his own, a la Larsson or Viduka.

While he's a great goal poacher he jsut doesn't have the raw pace of an Eto, Henry or Anelka at their best.

In and out of the Celtic may be the best he achieves. Can he make himself a certainty to play in every game I doubt it.
