Victory win with style....mostly.

Melbourne Victory defeated Chunnam Dragons 2-0 in front of 23,000 at the Telstra Dome in Melbourne tonight.

An open entertaining game, a youthful Victory team which had Leigh Broxham, Nicky Ward, Billy Celeski and subs Sebastian Ryall and Kaz Patafta all involved at some point saw off the Korean Cup Winners.

My slant below

Religious Quote of the night.
"For a player like Nicky Ward to come to Melbourne is a blessing," said Fox Sports Religion Expert Paul Trimboli

Most impressive player
Matthew Kemp had a strong game. Linked superbly for the first goal. Finished the season well after a shaky start, now settled at left back, and looked good tonight.

Billy Celeski continues to impress. First with Perth in Season Three now on his debut in Asia.

Of interest
Victory team had no foreigners.

Cry from the lounge room
I watched the game with Victory fans and when the team came up the female Victory fan launched into
"The strip is ugly, the strip is ugly!"

Crowd
Crowd was disappointing 23,000. Clearly many kids had to go to school tomorrow, but the terraces were colourful and noisy. And those that stayed away or didn't see the coverage on 5 pages of the Herald Sun missed a great game.

Shock of the night.
The number of chances Victory were able to create, and miss. It really was impressive with Archie FiveGoals missing chance after chance, but he had a great game. Does that make sense?

Point of order
Acupuncture was applied pitch side by the Korean medical staff. Try it out on your team this weekend!

Nice touch

After the game both sides lined up across the park and shook hands, nice touch. Would like to see Man Utd and Arsenal or even Ross Aloisi and Kevin Muscat do this after they've lost!

Goals Muscat penalty and Roddie Vargas header, a free one inside the box.

Food for thought
Chunnam were denied two blatant penalties, Victory rode their luck but definitely deserved to win.

A good performance and result next week against Chonburi FC (Thailand) should set up a great home game against group favourites Gamba Osaka.

And finally Michael Theoklitos the Victory keeper made key key saves to keep the Victory in the lead.

Victory were very good, and very bad. But a win's a win.
