Danny Vukovic v Dr. Nick Darcy

Vukovic should go to the Under 23 World Cup, Nick Darcy should not!

Swimmer Nick Darcy, alledgedly smashed Simon Cowley's face. Kieran Squeaky Clean Perkins says Nick shouldn't go to the Under 23 Football World Cup, known in some quarters as the Olympics, and he probably won't.


But it has been interesting to hear many many voices in the swimming community and elsewhere saying, despite the fact Darcy could face ten years gaol, that he shouldn't miss the Olympics.

Which is all very interesting but remember when Danny Vukovic gave the Ref a high five. It certainly didn't hurt Mark Shields, certainly didn't break a bone, smash a face, or even leave the Ref with nightmares possibly for years.

And yet our Danny can't go to the Olympics, but few say, "oh the guy can't miss this event, it will destroy him etc etc."

I know in swimming careers are short and life is probably all about the Under 23 Football World Cup and nothing else.

But if people can even suggest Cowley can go to the World Cup, then our Danny should book his ticket now.

We all know what Vukovic was wrong, but Nick Cowley may just have put it in perspective.

Vukovic should be allowed to go to the Olympics. The punishment does not fit the crime.
