FFA: Canberra in the hunt for A-League

FFA CEO Ben Buckley, speaking about A-League expansion on Total Football tonight, said, "We've had interest from Tasmania and Canberra and we should explore that."

We should explore it and let's talk it up here in Canberra.

Wollongong, Sydney, Gold Coast and Townsville are all in the hunt with FOUR teams expected by 2010.

Can Canberra do it? You bet.

And interestingly in Youth team news, the news from Ben Buckley is less promising for Canberra, or so it seemed from his comments on TV last night.

"The FFA Can afford the Youth League," said Buckley.

"The clubs are very supportive, and the Youth League will happen."

If the Wellington bid doesn't happen, "we're looking at Tasmania and Canberra playing Youth League games in the bye," said Buckley.

What did he mean? 'If the Wellington bid doesn't happen', and why is he talking about looking at other options. Surely you'd forget other proposals if Wellington bid was strong, and you the FFA supported it.
