Matildas Squad v Italy
20 players required.
Pick your team or squad and post it here.
Should Cheryl Salisbury be dropped? Should Elyse Perry be included. Courtney Beutel in? Jo Burgess to remain a Matilda? Is Melissa Barbieri under threat from other keepers?
Ashleigh Sykes, Kyah Simon, Courtney Beutel, Lana Harch ahead of a returning Sarah Walsh?
Ellie Brush, Linda O'Neill, Emily Van Egmond Tamara Butt could they squeeze into the squad.
So much talent, so many judges...now it's been on the telly. So do your best and help Tom Sermanni out:) Russ Gibbs will announce his squad on the Nearpost radio on Tuesday next.

I'm assuming there will be a squad of 20
GK: Williams,Barbieri
Back: Polkinghorne, McShea, Spence, Reuter, Slatyer, Brogan, Day
Mid: McCallum, Chapman, Colthorpe, Garriock??, Butt, Mastrantonio. Neilson
Fwd; De Vanna, Gill, Munoz, Khamis,
I saw Van Egmond on the TV for the first time. Does anyone seriously think she is a contneder for the Matildas??
BTW i agree on the whole with the original post although I would put Simon in instead of Khamis and would love to see Majiewski get a chance but maybe too soon.
Salisbury won't play, her calf means she can only last for 30minutes at a time at the moment.
And if it's going off the last Matildas squad, Kyah Simon was in there already.
I'm tipping Brush will be the new Canberra player in the team, she's been outstanding.
Difficulty for Brush is that there are aleady a number of tall, fast identified defenders.
CU has some good height in the 2 dark haired backs slayter and kiting work well together and both have good speed, it seems they are intelligent players who can read the game very well, by the way, i haven't seen too many matilda forwards get past them in the w league.
good luck to cu for the finals - it has been a pleasure to watch the team. can't wait for next comp.
courtney beutel is the quickest and most potent fwd i have seen in the w-league. she deserves a chance. GK wise surely dumont deserves a call up.
The Jets forwards got past the so called great defenders 50 times in the semi final. Not good defending as far as I can see. Williams, along with Slatyer and Brush were the only ones who kept CU in the game. Kiting was often out of positin and let strikers through and Davies is slow and cannot keep up.
Van Egmond is a lazy player and not anything special.
Brush is the only one who can make it into the Matildas squad. Slatyer and Kiting might look 'good' at the back but are really not much at playing football.
Ashleigh Sykes may be a potential Matilda, but needs to learn to control the ball and do some close ball skills. A coerver course would help her and then maybe in a year or two into the Matildas.
Dumont is only 16: I think GKs need a bit of time. Not sure about Beutel, lets see what happens this weekend. I certianly hope we can keep her out. She didn't trouble us last time we met and she didn't do a lot in the semi.

Amy Chapman is injured adn won't be availble. Not sure if Caitlin will be ok either.
I agree with an earlier comment - I wouldn't play khamis either.
Garriock has been out for half the w-league season so don't know what she'll be able to contribute.
Uzunlar has played in the Matilda's before and has good vision on the field, not to mention the sweet passes. Same goes for Polias from the central coast team- they're both brilliant mid-fielders.
Well done to Ellie for making the squad. Shes not tall, just average skilled, nor is she fast. But according to todays CT, Tom Sermanni she was very Composed. So if your a tall, skilled and fast identified defender do not apply unless you are very composed.
