A-League Bid tittle tattle?

As April 1st approaches the football media seems to be getting in early. Pumping out garbage at in increasing rate.

Firstly perhaps one of importance: A Greek newspaper in Melbourne, remember South Melbourne were ditched from the A-League bid just last year, even with Les Murray supporting the return of an ethnic bid:)...are reporting that rumours abound that the Second Melbourne bid, supposed to be a shoe-in for the 11th spot, are in serious trouble; no funds and an internal dispute of volcanic proportions.

The Tasmanian A-League Bid...(who will bid next Kangaroo Island?) have produced a rabbit out of the hat with the World's 37th Richest Man named as being linked to the bid.

Even if Tassie have such a backer, I reckon the FFA would redirect him to West Sydney or Melbourne. And Tassie need more than money. They need people, a major city a stadium and a whole heap more. Nice beat-up Tassie, top marks me thinks.

Personally I'd love to think Tassie can support a national football team. Would be great but I can't see it....yet.

And South Coast have found another stadium in Wollongong. Apparently they know Win Stadium isn't worthy of the FFA. So they have plan B. There is another stadium in Wollongong:) Maybe it's called Canberra! or like St George the League team they'll play in Sydney.

Still no word from Western Sydney...meanwhile Canberra awaits it's ruling from the FFA.

And I'm not making any of this stuff up...I don't have to.

If the canberra a-league bid is solid...why would the FFA need to 'wait' until June for a decision? it looks to me they are waiting for Wst Syd to get their act together? If Canberra was solid they could give it the green light like they did with Melbournes 2nd team.

Simple

W.Sydney has 2 million people, and biggest junior base in the country...also more potential Fox TV viewers/purchasers.

Ain't about solid bids...it's about getting the biggest TV deal next time..at the moment FFA really want Sydney and Melbourne to have second teams

then Canberra and Tassie or whoever for 13 and 14.

No bid from W.Sydney yet..so FFA give them more time..ie June...or let Canberra in.

They know they can make Canberra wait as the bid is solid and one of the best they've seen....and if W.Sydney don't materialise this time....they have Canberra...

that's my take anyway

Not sure why the consistent negativity with the Tasmanian bid! I've come to expect it though! Crowds? Our pre-season matches get just as big crowds as the ones Canberra hosts! I think Canberra and Tasmania should be the next two bids in, would expand the national profile significantly - seven states/territories plus NZ, that would be larger than ANY other Australian sporting league, let alone football code!

Hi Chuq

Guess most neutral fans would be surprised to see a Tassie team.

Tassie doesn't have the population base in one centre.

To get or even aim to get crowds of 15,000 is nigh on impossible

Two population centres both small, no real football venues, these are probably the key reasons why most are negative..indeed I wouldn't say anyone is negative about Tassie more that 2nd Melbourne, Sydney Canberra are far better choices for a whole heap of reasons not least money, and infratructure

maybe Tassie for 14th spot I'd loved to see that....just don't think you are anywhere near ready yet even with some dodgy comment about a Sheik...but what about the rest of the bid...the stadium the fans the long-term viability.
