FFA: Does it mean Fair go For All men?

Australian Women not good enough?

Cor blimey I'm angry, and it's a bloody disgrace.

The Football Federation Australia (FFA) release their Small Sided Games Ambassador program and NOT ONE WOMEN in the list.

Maybe FFA stands for Fair go For All men

International Women's Day passed on Saturday, Kevin Rudd announced only one women in his list for the national talkfest, and now the FFA who claim to have a women's game, a women's programme and want to promote the game to women and girls don't include ANY women in their ambassador program.

FFA. Please explain. It is 2008. You have the opportunity to grow the women's game like never before. The clubs, the junior clubs are full of girls.

You couldn't make it up. Is there anyone in the FFA fighting for the women. In 2008 should they have to?

Why the surprise? When was the last time the FFA managed to do anything right???

From memory there are very few real achievements the FFA have pulled off since the current boom in football in this country which is thanks to what the Socceroos did in Germany '06.

The biggest successes for the FFA in recent times have been the appointment of Guus Hiddink to take us to Germany and the creation of the A-League

Since then we've seen the FFA bumble and screw up time and time again.

The allocation of tickets for Australian games in Germany 2006 was a joke. A system based on email and ‘first come first served’ for an event as big as the World Cup when it would have been more practical and fair to have applications submitted by a certain date followed by a lottery. Not to mention that selecting an over-priced travel package pretty much guaranteed you tickets.

Trying to secure a successor to Arnold following the Asian Cup would be another example. Fair enough that Advocaat is a clown and backed out of a deal however the fact that it was left so late and so close to qualifying to pick up Verbeek is pretty poor management. Well done to the FFA for finally getting a man prepared to live in the country and commit to it’s development but why wasn’t he picked up in the first place? Just because a manager has a large price tag doesn’t mean he’ll do what’s best for football in this country, Verbeek will whereas Advocaat would have been more interested in what was in it for him, not the country.

Onto the A-League which has been a huge success to date but now the FFA hope to over-extend far too early (imo) by getting two new franchises in for the next season, and both of which would be Queensland teams. And to make matters worse if this doesn't work out instead they'll make an even bigger mistake by only entering a single new franchise creating a bye round for a team every week.

It’s at least a season too early to be entering new teams when the New Zealand franchise still isn’t successful or stable and especially when the two new teams would be coming from the same state. The season starting in 2009 should be the earliest the FFA should be entering two new teams, the Gold Coast Galaxy and possibly a second Victorian team or Canberra FC.

A brief mention for the FFA and their brilliant move not to punish Joel Griffiths for punching a linesman in the crotch, handing him player of the year and then banning the mariners keeper for 12 months for a lesser crime, very smooth. Oh and the fact Petrovski was also let off despite also striking the referee's hand just before Vukovic, where is the consistency? Kudos to Verbeek for not selecting Joel Griffiths in his squad for the Singapore friendly coming up.

And to wrap it up, the point at hand. Not appointing any women for the Small Sided Games Ambassador program. Surprised? Why?! Why on earth would the FFA take advantage of what the Matildas did in the World Cup and use their success to build up the women’s game in this country.

Okay maybe i’m being a little harsh but for all the good they’ve done, the FFA have managed to do almost as much harm to their credibility and the credibility of the game in this country.

Common sense prevails for once, i've just read that the FFA will tell the two new franchises they have to wait until 2009/2010.
