Hello football fans and welcome to the
October Issue of Half Time Heroes.
http://halftimeheroes.com.au/ 2010/10/05/time-heroes- october-2010/
We haven’t missd a month just adjusting our calander.
It’s been all doom and gloom with talk about the A-League with everyone with a paid opinion writing obituaries. But here at Half Time Heroes we celebrate football and ignore the white elephant in the room and in the stadiums. Sure we take it seriously as well but we like to have fun and take the piss as well.
This month’s highlights on Half Time Heroes:
An Interview with North Queensland Fury and Socceroo attacker David Williams. Thanks to Dave for giving us his time.
The Adventures of the Big D and Buckle Up Ben Continue.... HTH’s satirical look at the administration of football as we go behind the scenes ot two of Australia’s best mates thanks to Chippy Brady our secret ranter who goes off his nut again.
We welcome Micheal Turner to the HTH family as he reviews Australia’s 2022 World Cup Bid. It’s in the bag right?
Check out our A League picture specials couresty of Goal!Weekly photographers.
Mike Salter discusses the European Filter with Nathan Burns and Bruce Djite as subjects. Andrew Donald talks dirty and Nat Adamopoulos gives us History 101 with Adelaide City.
This month at HTH we also go cosmopolitan for all you Euro- football lovers/snobs/connesairs. We start our brand new Serie A section with Julian De Martinis and we also bring you Ze Bundesliga with Mark Hex. and don’t forget the La Liga with Kieran Pender.
You like US Soccer? Learn more about the MLS and team USA with Forest Brazil. HTH sent our EPL writer Ben Halls to the US. He is an Englishman in New York checking out Soccer with some Yanks.
Gary Al-Smith gives us an update on African World Cup Heroes Ghana. Wayne Snowden HTH resident cartoonist takes aim at the Football Federation Australia and the Australian football Media. Check his cartoons on Cover page, page 15 and double page 20.

More coverage of the Matildas Asia Cup win than probably any other media outlet in the country, including Russ Gibbs and Sally Shipards take on things and of course a more interesting and diverse set of writers about the Aussie game, including all your World Cup stuff than any other professional outlet. And don't we need diversity!
Reckon it's the best edition EVER!

Has heaps of coverage of our World Cup opponents, Santa Cilaro and more football writers than SBS, Fox or 442 could dream of.

The Half-Time Heroes are back in action, The Football Tragic, Shane Davis lamenting Australia's defensive decline, Stuart Randall running the rule over Rafa, and Canbera's own Russ Gibbs presenting a comprehensive review of this season's W-League.
Get into it, anyway you can.

There is a new website, a new look to the Aussie football emag and you can get it from the above link.
I've dropped out but don't let that stop you taking a look at the new, smaller and im my view improved HTH.
Easier to read, and more football than you could ever want...and it's free. Con Stamocostas is the man driving this baby now and I reckon he's come up with a great format for version 3. Check it out for yourself.

It's back, edition two coming next Wednesday, 9th Sept.
More writers than an A-League crowd, well more readers that's for sure. But only a goose would plan 3pm games in the middle of the junior football season wouldn't they.

Not bad, not bad. Australia's only national football fanzine has clearly met the need of the sporting public.
Football fans love something a bit more irreverant, maybe better written, more opinionated than you find in the normal Aussie media. SBS, SMH have constraints of space and etiquette I guess. A fanzine less so.
We've had over 5,000 Readers so far for the first edition, over 40,000 page views and a plug on Fox Sports website from Australia's Number One Commentator Simon Hill.
We welcome any ideas to improve Half-Time Heroes and indeed anyone who would like ot get involved in anyway. Website design or any other ideas you may have.
Clearly we're here to stay.

Given the stunning success of Half-Time Heroes we're heading to a new permanent website. If you have the skills and can design such a thing, for free, or minimal cost, go for it!
With an International audience it would be a great way to highlight your skills.
flanagan.eamonn@gmail.com if you can help.

The cartoon has obviously offended some people with it's use of profanity.
So apologies for that, and should you go to the link and you are Under 18 be sure and ask your parents.
Go straight to the humour in the latest edition. Wayne Snowden is the cartoonist, every football fan will love him I reckon.

We've fired up the media department. What have they been doing all year. Anyway Half-Time Heroes has taken up another office in Sydney and has released it's first official release.
And look who we got to launch it!
Half-Time Heroes: Australian Football Media Release
Tuesday July 28, 2009
Frank Lowy the chairman of Football Federation Australia (FFA) says that the desire that underpinned the revival of football at a local level is the same desire that motivates the World Cup bid.
Now that desire has spread to the fans. Some of Australia’s best underground football writers have banded together to start a brand new monthly football fanzine called Half-Time Heroes.
The first issue is out on Wednesday 5th August right before the new A-League season kicks off.
Go to the following websites and on the right hand side of the page enter your E-mail address and subscribe so you never miss an issue:
http://nearpost.blogspot.com/ or http://afootballstory.blogspot.com/
The Fanzine was the brainchild of Canberra based football writer and radio host Eamon Flanagan (the nearpost.blogspot com).
"It's time." that's all Flanagan would say.
Some of Australia’s most committed Football writers have joined.
They are: The Roar’s Tony Tannous (the round ball analyst), Mike Salter (The Football Tragic), Fiona Crawford (A girl called Fred), Con Stamocostas (A Football Story) and Bill Skinner (A Spawning Salmon/A Pissant Town) plus many, many more.
Half-Time Heroes:
The fanzine will take a serious and sometimes not so serious look at Australian Football. The first issue will feature stories and interviews with the Socceroos.
We cover every A-League club; including the two new teams the Gold Coast United and North Queensland Fury. The W-League and Youth League will also be featured.
The first bumper issue features over 20 pages, Terry Henry tackles the hardmen, we look at all the media stars in season 5, double FA we're watching you, and more opinions than you could ever hope for; a star team of writers and all for free. Football heaven
Sports Minister, the honourable Kate Ellis writes the opening piece.
So sign up for Half-Time Heroes, out next Wednesday.
Half-Time Heroes join the voice of Australian Football!
http://nearpost.blogspot.com or http://afootballstory.blogspot.com/
Ends
If you would like to be involved or would like more information about the fanzine contact Con Stamocostas on email stamarocks@yahoo.com.au or telephone 0403104246

Well it's all going to cunning plan....so far!
Every A-League club is covered bar the Mariners. W-League. And we've got 20 plus pages, a quiz, Terry's on fire, letters page, and more opinions than you could ever hope for and a star team of writers even if I do so say myself.
Kate Ellis writes the opening piece. Great to get the support of the Sports Minister, and our PR team is about to go into overdrive.
Sign up for Half-Time Heroes, out next Wednesday on this blog, right hand side.
Bet you can't wait!
