Australia v India...Asia Cup Jan 2011

South Korea will be tough, Bahrain are beatable but we open against India.

And to think Aussies thought the Indians only played cricket.

Over 100,000 regularly attend the Calcutta Derby and with Coerver making in roads among the 200 million middle class, and Chelsea FC's search for a football superstar in India we'd better grab the chance to beat the World's second biggest nation while we can.

A great draw for the future of Australia in Asia. And with India and China at the Asia Cup there will be an increased bit of interest you'd imagine.

Canberran watches Newcastle revival?

Former Futsalroo, Head of Coerver Coaching Australia and Canberra Jason Lancsar returned my call last night from the train from London to Newcastle!

"I'm with
Alf (Galustian, Head of Coerver International) we're heading to Newcastle to do some work with them," said Jason.

"You'd better hurry coz they are woeful and could get relegated tonight." says me the Geordie baiter.

It worked Jason's pre-match drills clearly having more impact than one could imagine.

Alan Shearer's men won 3-1 with an ageing Mark Viduka and Boro Aussie Brad Jones on the pitch.

Boro are Canberra bound apparently, nice prize for relegation.

As for Jason he's back to Canberra in a few days and then off to Mumbai, India to launch Coerver over there.

Can you imagine the skills and the market for football in that country.

Not a bad gig Jason!

Kanga Cup: Indians make a big impact.

Kick off arrives for Indians

It was finally time for the inaugural Asian Fellowship recipients to kick off their McDonald’s Kanga Cup campaign, our boys from India taking on Canberra’s Woden Valley Redbacks.

A guard of honor was formed by Terrigal United for Gujarat as they ran out onto the pitch for the first time before receiving gifts from their opponents prior to kick off.

Providence Gujarat didn’t get their Kanga Cup campaign off to the dream start they were hoping for when they conceded a free kick just outside the box which led to the first goal within minutes of the match beginning.

Woden Valley founded the net for the second time against the flow of play but after a number of attempts from Gujarat, they finally had reason to celebrate and they did exactly that.

The chilly conditions obviously not suiting the visitors as a number of the Indian team members required their ski gloves and beanies for the duration of the match to keep warm.

Only minutes into the second half Providence Gujarat leveled the scores at 3-all, only to again fall behind 4-3 after an indirect free kick from only six meters from the goal line.

The fight and determination from the Indians had brought them back into the game on two occasions but couldn’t manage to level the scores again despite a number of opportunities before the final whistle.
