The A League Is About to Kick Off and the Socceroos Play A Friendly

The team tonight is back to almost full strength, only Eamonn's positon on the match card is vacant.

Tonight Terry, Paddy and Lucy Zee are the front three for the Nearpost. And they are smokin!

The A League is about to kick off for 2010 / 2011 and there has been more moves in the off season than a Swiss watch. Players moving everywhere, a few retired, a few that shold have retired and a couple of new teams. The NZ team is full of undefeated World Cup players, Melbourne Victory is not looking so flash and no Archie Thompson, Sydney FC has cleverly concealed its real form by being smashed by good international teams, Gold Coast are likely to be as mercurial as last year, where did the overweight and over paid foriegn players go to this year, who's making the best of the local football talent and so much more. Fearless predictions for the winner of the A League by the panel, courageous even. Make a note for the future.

Who will be the new Socceroos Coach. FFA say it will be announced in a week, so it looks like Eamonn's secret mission to the Northern hemisphere will bear fruit. He was seeen in Spain last week and early reports this week have him in Luxemburg. Its a mystery. Get back Eamonn this is driving us nuts!

And there is the Socceroos friendly against Slovenia, that real good team from the World Cup. Is it a game that will introduce young Australian talent to the world stage? Not really. Why is anyone playing for the Socceroos who will not be there (and I don't mean with the aid of friends) at the next World Cup and if so why? And who's the Coach for heaven's sake and why isn't it the new Coach?

The A League, Socceroo's Coach, Australia's World Cup Bid, Australian Players Overseas, Is the Dutch Thing Done and more

Eamonn is still OS and rumour has it that he has been commissioned by the FFA to whittle down the short list of applications for the new Socceroo's Coach. "Celtic is the way ahead", "I haven't seen a Dutch team play like Celtic" he is reported to have said, as he was observed getting off a plane from Scotland in a kilt, with a dozen Vuvuzelas under his arm. "I have to admit, there is bloke called "Sam Araldite" who is making a late run for the job and with a name like that he'll fit straight into Australia."

Tonight its Paddy, Arron and Lucy - now that's an explosure mixture at any football game!
Lucy lost her keys and arrived late for the show, Paddy felt the power and sacked Lucy (before she arrived at the Studio and gambled Lucy wasn't listening). Silly boy!! Lucy is on fire tonight. Arron is cool, calm and collected and he drops a bucket on Sydney FC. Lucy drops an entire building on former Socceroos Coach Pim Verbeek. Is the "Dutch thing" under threat? The team were tempted. Paddy's had to be in his best form tonight, Lucy's tackling everything in sight and Arron is looking dangerous.

Paddy is settling in Eamonn! He has brought his own "gold microphone" into the studio and has put in an order for a new chair. Lucy is interviewing for a "Nearpost researcher". Its all go mate! Time to come home.

Don't miss this program - the team is on fire.

Nearpost National Show - 29/12/09

National show Download

Lucy and Paddy have the controls for the last show in 2009 and there's no stopping them. Its all happenning! The A league gossip, who really coaches Kuwait and what's in a name anyway, the Soccerros playing roster, whose in and whose out and who knows, and can they win, where did all the people come from to watch the last A league round - that's easy - they listen to the Nearpost National. The odd fearless prediction for the next A league round. Cry in ya Chardonnay Paddy, the Perth Shin-kickers are done for - and who adminstered the kiss of life to the Gold Coast. Strange things going on in the A league!! What about Harry K and the Turkish connection? When too much football gossip is what its all about. "Eamonn who", Paddy is heard to exclaim! They sent Eamonn on an all expenses paid "Celtic Tragics" reunion in storm ravaged Western NSW - something about inland beach football and would he like to be the inaugral patron. Eamonn couldn't resist. He's wet, not happy and someone borrowed his Celtics jersey! Is there no end to the lengths that Lucy (Paddy made me do it) and Paddy (my hand is no where near the ball) will go to, to promote the Nearpost National - No!. So listen.
