Frank Farina's coaching tips

Queensland Roars Frank Farina was in Canberra recently at a Tip-Top sponsored coaching seminar for junior coaches.

"For young players 6-11 the emphasis is on fun fun and more fun. Get them on the ball and let them play."

"No tactics, or positional play should be coached at this age. The focus should be solely on teaching the kids individual skills and ensuring they are enjoying the experience."

"Sending kids for runs around the oval, for warm-ups, and fitness are a no-no. Get them on the ball at all times."

"And be positive from the sidelines. Get stuck in, kick it and other so-called supportive comments really don't help."

As the junior season starts across Australia, lets hope the coaches are heeding Frank's advice.
