Spare a thought for The Cardinals.

Under Ten side The Cardinals finally get a draw

This season, every week the Cardinals play every week they lose.

The Cardinals are an under ten side in a local Canberra league.

They have lost most games 5 or 6 nil. Not too bad you might say. But one or two of the guys have been used to winning in previous years so it has come as a bit of shock, as much for the parents as the players.

Anyway each week a little reorganisation goes on with the team, you know striker in goal, fastest player at the back and so on, and each week they get thumped.

Pitches are huge (we'll leave that for another week) and with a struggling team they are never going to get near the opposition goal, never mind score.

So yesterday with another new central defence partnership the anticipated goal storm was reduced.

Miracles happen and the Cardinals scored not one but twice. They were even leading with 5 minutes to play.

The game ended 2-2, the assistant coach hugged every player, and these are guys who will hardly shake his hand normally!

Everyone was thrilled.

Special mentions to Steve Burrows (2 goals) ace defenders Kai Thornton and Christopher Tuck. William Bear and Alan Taylor in fact the whole team were fantastic. Well done guys, keep up the good work.

Can they play the other side every week! Wouldn't that be nice.

Tell us how your team is going. Are they winning every game, is the parent rage starting to raise its head? Have you spotted the next Sally Shipard or Carl Valeri.

Are you coaching and need some advice? We can point you in the right direction.

Coaching kids is tough, keep it fun, never mind the result, and remember you're doing a great job because without you there would be no coach!
