Gold Coast want Kofi Danning.
Former Majura junior and current AIS Scholarship holder Kofi Danning is being chased by the new Gold Coast club. Miron Blieberg has been watching recent AIS games.
But then again Miron every A-League Club is after this player, a young player with who it is hoped will go on to bigger things.
One AIS insider said, "Kofi could play English Premier League or European Champions League. We think he has such potential." And I've rarely heard the AIS talk any player up over the years.

If that is true then why didn't kofi make the under 20's Australian team? And why isn't he contracted with them now if they want him? I know other players that are contracted with youth leagues and A leagues and some of them were from this years AIS team. It's a little bit of BS if you ask me. All talk!
could well be all talk..and one can predict a big future for a young player and it goes..well not very far..see Wayne Shroj and David Tarka both rated amongst the best players to come thru the AIS.
Kofi is young, very young and perhaps that is why he hasn't made the Under 20's yet. His year haven't been included in AIS yet, so when you consider he's played VPL a year ahead of his time maybe that's why he's where he is.
He could play at the next Under 20 cup I think, that's how young he is, and you always tend to take your 19's and 20's to that tournament because of there development.
Also two years, full-time, at the AIS may be better for a players development than 2 years with a Youth A-League club. Kofi is probably making some choices.
All talk? Maybe, but that's what football is made up of innit:)
If your that good age doesn't matter. I know for a fact that two boys (one from the AIS) made the under 20's Australian team and they are only 17! So answer me that? Kofi is 17 as well isn't he? Football is made up on talent and skill not talk. Tell me one footballer who has made it to the top on talk.
Well age does matter for one..a 17 year old up against a 19 year old Viduka would find it difficult to secure a place in a squad. That said, it isn't Kofi doing the talk it's others.
And I actually think Kofi is only 16, but I could be wrong.
And he's just been signed by Sydney FC. Steve O'Connor former AIS Coach made young Kofi one of his first signings!
Time will tell, it's a tough journey to the top and I for one wish him well.
Kofi is actually 17. If the 17 year old player was that good then he would get a secure place even up against a 19 year old Viduka but i don't see how that is the point. He wasn't one of Steve's first signings and once again if he was as good as you seem to think he would have made it into the under 20's youth league and now since you know two other 17 year old boys made the team you argue that.
now I didn't claim he was "that good" re-read my post, I'm going on what I've been told by some.
Indeed I've never seen him play.
If someone within the AIS talk him up, then I'm interested as in my experience they rarely do.
And he's in the Under 20 Youth League with Sydney FC as of today. Anyway whatever, he's at the AIS, he's young,he's got a chance.
Is he as good as the rumour, well clearly you think not. Time will tell.
Me I will reserve judgement until I see him play.
Of more interest to me: Who are the other 17 year olds who have made the team?
I'm unsure of one of the guys names but he is from Qld and the other is Sam Munro he is from the AIS and also signed with Sydney FC. I'm from Sydney and know of the AIS boys and their achievements quite well.
Kofi is a quality player. He's signed for Sydney as we know but he had more options available. I used to go to school with him and play in his team and he was something special then. He'll be playing for the U20's for sure
I am from canberra. I go to school with him and he is absolutely amazing, excellent skill and so fast. the style of football he plays is different to what australian football looks for. the australian game is trying for possession and passes like the english style, kofi goes for individual runs tries to dribble around defenders and that is why he is often overlooked, he wasn't even picked for any of the under 18 ACT national soccer teams.
also because he is so young he needs a guardian to escort him places. he isn't allowed to just hop on a bus or plane and fly places without a guardian which causes problems.
unfortunately im months to late to argue with the anonymous person eamonn was talking with but he played his first A league match against adelaide 2 nights ago and he is fantastic. im sure you will see lots more of him in the future and you will see the coaches arn't just talk and that he is great.
he just made his debut for sydney fc and done well, also in the aus under 18's, player with a bright future and i believe all a-league clubs would love to have a player of his potential
I used to go to school with him and played with him in futsal and outdoor for telopea, and he was a class player. I thought his older brother was better, but I knew Kofi was special.
