2008 A-League Expansion: Only one team?

Miron Bleiberg, Football Director of Gold Coast Galaxy, was speaking on Total Football tonight.

Two teams, the Galaxy and Townsville Thunder, have another week to meet the FFA's increased (from Season 1) financial requirements. But will they both have the money?

Reading between the lines after listening to Miron and the Total Football team, I reckon we might get one team next year but not two. Which one is more likely?

Gold Coast probably.

They've already offered Wellington's Felipe a contract, and assuming they are accepted, Noel Spencer from the Jets, Andre Gumprecht from the Mariners and maybe even Dwight Yorke, yes Dwight Yorke might be joining the Galaxy.

Anyway don't bank on two teams coming in next year.

The FFA can't afford to have a team fail. And funny how the best business plans look great on paper but maybe not so sharp once the money needs to appear on the table.

More room for Canberra:)
