Mariners: We chopped six!

CEO Chairman Lyall Gorman chats to us on the Nearpost tonight, gives advice to the new Franchisee's. Here's a part of what he has to say.

"You need to know who you are and what you stand for. The very first thing we (The Mariners) did, we sat down on day 2, the day after Melbourne Cup.

"My coaching staff brought a list of 36 players. I said before we do that, let's work out who we are, what we stand for, what are our values, where we'll be in five years. We spent two days looking at what the values of the organisation ought to be, where we wanted to be in five years, what was our long-term vision, and that has stood us in good stead ever since.......... as a result we eventually cut 6 players from the original list because the staff said they'll never fit!"

You can Lyall Gorman on Nearpost Radio tonight. Check your community station across Australia or catch him on the poddie available on this site late tonight.
